Airrobe - Sustainable Fashion Start Up
I worked with Airrobe in their early stages to influence sustainable buying behaviour. Airrobe's plugin integrates directly to ecommerce sites to prompt customers to save details of their fashion purchases in a virtual circular wardrobe, so they can re-sell their clothes easily at a later date. This product responds to a huge rise in consumer efforts to shop more sustainably and is a strong step towards a more conscious fashion industry.
As my first insight into UX Design, I also completed the Google UX Design Certificate while working with Airrobe. Below are some of the processes and discovery to develop a familiar yet new interface that was easy for consumers to understand a new shopper behaviour. The design had to be simple and fluid enough to integrate with other fashion brands ecommerce websites and no detract from a fluid shopping experience.
The biggest challenge we faced was ‘How do we get people to quickly understand that they can shop sustainably by adding items to their Circular Wardrobe, so they can resell the item once they are ready, with just one click?’
Through user interviews and lofi prototypes I developed worked in a small team (engineers, creative directior and founder) to develop a system that integrates with any ecommerce store.
USER TESTING FEEDBACK ISSUES
None of the initial design iterations displayed the re-sale value of the item, however user research and testing shows that people engaged more and understood the product better when the resale value was displayed when browsing. A brief summary of the design processUI ComponentsAlongside developing the UI and UX - my role also included creating marketing/sales collateral, as well as launch campaigns for retailers we onboarded. In my time at Airrobe we successfully onboarded 2 to 38 online retailers – including Australia's largest fashion marketplace, The Iconic. Other brands include: PE Nation, Romance was Born, Oroton, Rebecca Vallance and more.
Developing a brand voice to speak to both B2b and B2c customers to clearly explain a new product and behaviour is challenging. My part in this process was developing a sales deck and reports outlining the benefits of Airrobe as a product to retailers.
From a product idea to execution and going live in market, it was so satisfying unfolding the process to develop a game-changing product that has a positive impact on the fashion industry. It was a challenging and rewarding process, but watching it come to life on Australia's favourite fashion brands and integrate seamlessly is a highlight of my career.
